Huizenga Votes To Protect Consumers, Hold Washington Bureaucrats Accountable
Washington,
May 9, 2018
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting to overturn the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection’s (the Bureau) misguided auto lending rule.
“This action taken by the Bureau is a prime example of government overreach. The Dodd-Frank Act explicitly states the Bureau cannot regulate car dealers, yet these ‘above the law’ bureaucrats clearly think the law doesn’t apply to them. Secondly, the numbers used by the Bureau don't hold up to scrutiny. An independent audit found the Bureau to be off by 41% when trying to justify their false claims. The last thing hardworking Americans seeking to purchase a car need is overzealous Washington Bureaucrats using bad math to raise the total cost of their vehicle by almost $600.” S.J. Res. 57 has already passed the Senate and will now head to the President’s Desk where President Trump is expected to sign the measure. |
