Huizenga Nominates 10 Students to U.S. Service Academies
Washington,
January 30, 2024
Yesterday, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-04) announced 10 Fourth District nominees to the U.S. Service Academies for the class of 2028. These students will be considered for appointment to one or more of our nation’s Service Academies: the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. “It is a great honor to nominate these future Southwest Michigan leaders to our nation’s Service Academies,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “Choosing to pursue an appointment to a Service Academy is not one that comes lightly, and I applaud these incredibly talented individuals for following their passion. I have the utmost confidence that these students will represent Southwest Michigan with distinction and believe they deserve the highest recognition for their dedication and desire to serve our nation.” The nominations are based upon an academy advisory board interview that evaluates criteria such as academic achievement, extracurricular achievement, and leadership abilities. Further information on requirements for nomination and the application process is available on Congressman Huizenga’s website. A nomination does not guarantee appointment to an academy. An academy must receive a nomination from an authorized nominating source, one of which is a Member of Congress, before admitting a student and offering them an appointment to the academy. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination. Congressman Huizenga has nominated the following students for the Class of 2028. United States Air Force Academy
United States Naval Academy
United States Military Academy at West Point
United States Merchant Marine Academy
