Huizenga Statement on SEC Chair Gensler Senate Testimony, Calls on House to Hold SEC Accountable
Washington,
September 15, 2022
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-MI), Ranking Member of the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee released the following statement on Securities and Exchange Commissioner (SEC) Chair, Gary Gensler’s refusal to testify before the House Committee on Financial Services. “Next month will mark exactly one year since the Chair of the SEC, Gary Gensler, appeared before our committee,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “Since then, the SEC has embarked on an unprecedented regulatory agenda that touches every corner of our capital markets. The Chair should not simply pick and choose when and where he will testify. I urge my Democrat colleagues in the House to immediately schedule a hearing with Chair Gensler and the full SEC Commission so we can discuss issues impacting hard working Americans who participate in our financial markets. Background
In October of 2021 and May of 2022, the top Republican on the House Financial Services Committee, Patrick McHenry (NC-10), and the top Republican on the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee, Bill Huizenga (MI-02) sent letters to Chairwoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) asking her to hold a hearing with the full SEC Commission. |
