Washington,
July 22, 2020
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga released the following statement after voting in favor of the Great American Outdoors Act. This bipartisan bill would support national parks, forests, and conservation efforts across the United States.
“The Great American Outdoors Act opens more opportunities for hunters and anglers while enhancing and preserving our national parks and public lands for future generations,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “Here in Michigan, this bipartisan legislation will protect and prioritize Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pictured Rocks, as well as the Huron-Manistee, Ottawa, and Hiawatha National Forests. It will also support conservation efforts for parks, trails, and recreational spaces from Ludington to Holland.” This legislation, which has already passed the Senate, passed the House by a vote of 310-107. The Great American Outdoors Act now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law. President Trump has voiced his support of this once in a generation bipartisan conservation effort. |
