WZZM: 129 new American citizens welcomed by Rep. Huizenga in Holland

HOLLAND, Michigan — U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland) celebrated 129 new American citizens at a naturalization ceremony in Holland Friday.

The ceremony was held at the Herrick District Library, and it was filled with family and friends of the new Americans. The ceremonies are public events.

“Naturalization ceremonies are some of my favorite moments because you can see the sheer joy and excitement not only on the faces of those becoming citizens, but on the faces of their friends and families as well," said Huizenga.

The new citizens came from all over the world, spanning from Bhutan to Zambia.

Naturalization ceremonies are the final step in the citizenship process. The applicants take an oath of allegiance before becoming American citizens.
