Huizenga Votes to Hold Washington Accountable, Recoup $15 Billion in Unused Taxpayer Dollars
Washington,
June 7, 2018
Tonight, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 3, the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act. This nearly $15 billion rescission package is the largest to have ever passed the House.
"Nearly everyone agrees the federal government is chock-full of outdated and wasteful programs funded at taxpayer expense. The difference is the Republican-led House is taking action. This rescissions package takes a very positive step in recouping nearly $15 billion in unspent taxpayer dollars instead of letting it collect dust and add to the debt. “In order to get our nation’s fiscal house in order, we need to address the debt in both the short-term as well as the long-term. This legislation addresses the short-term while creating a framework for future reforms to shrink the size of the government, reduce spending, and restore accountability to Washington.” |
