Huizenga Votes to Cut Taxes for Hardworking Middle Class Families, West Michigan Job Creators
Washington,
December 20, 2017
Today, the House of Representatives passed the Conference Report to H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Under this legislation, the typical family of four, making the median income of $73,000, will receive a tax cut of $2,059. Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of this historic tax reform legislation.
"This is a historic moment. Our nation’s outdated and burdensome tax code hasn’t been reformed in three decades. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will deliver real tax relief for low and middle income families living paycheck to paycheck. By nearly doubling the standard deduction, doubling the child tax credit, and lowering tax rates, hardworking middle class taxpayers across West Michigan will be able to keep more of their hard earned money instead of sending it to Washington. “Additionally this tax reform bill will strengthen our economy by cutting taxes on West Michigan small businesses and corporations so job creators of all sizes can grow and expand here in Michigan. For too long, we have seen our economy underperform because of a complex and uncompetitive tax code. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act drastically improves the ability of American businesses to compete against foreign companies, create jobs, and grow our economy."
