Today, Congressman Huizenga announced David Reidsma, of Holland Christian High School, as the winner of 2017 Second District Congressional App Challenge. David created “BrickSort” for Android which allows users to download the inventory of any given LEGO® set and track the pieces.
“Congratulations to David on winning the Second District’s inaugural Congressional App Challenge,” said Congressman Huizenga. “With technology playing a larger role in our economy and society than ever before, it is critical that we prepare students with the tools to succeed. BrickSort highlights David’s creativity while showcasing his coding and computer skills. Through BrickSort, David has provided both parents and children a 21st century way to track their LEGO® inventory.” By winning the Congressional App Challenge, David will be invited to visit Washington, D.C. in April to showcase his app to Members of Congress and members of the tech community at a #HouseOfCode reception. His work will be eligible to be featured for a year on display in the U.S. Capitol Building and on the House.gov website.
