Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States:
"Today, our nation continued the storied tradition that has become a staple of American Democracy, the peaceful transition of power,” said Congressman Huizenga. “Millions of Americans, including the majority of West Michigan, voted to change the direction of our nation and we have already begun to see the results. Companies are bringing jobs back, investing in America, and most importantly, creating thousands of jobs in Michigan. I look forward to working with President Trump and Vice President Pence to strengthen our economy, end the ‘Washington knows best’ mentality, and make it easier for hardworking families and small businesses across West Michigan to succeed.”
Recently, I had the opportunity to welcome Michigan WWII Veterans to the memorial built in their honor. It was incredible to hear the stories of these brave men who fought to preserve freedom. Thank you for your service and thank you to the volunteers who made the veterans' trip such a positive and moving experience.
This afternoon, I welcomed nearly 40 people from around the world as they became American citizens at the Loutit District Library in Grand Haven. Congratulations to each and every one of you on making this life changing decision!
