Huizenga Votes To Send ObamaCare Repeal, Defund Planned Parenthood Legislation To The President's Desk

Washington, D.C. – This afternoon, Congressman Bill Huizenga released the following statement after voting to send legislation to President Obama’s desk that would defund Planned Parenthood and repeal ObamaCare:

“Today, the Republican-led Congress took an important step toward enacting real health care reform based on patient-centered solutions that increase access to care, lower costs, and allow West Michigan residents to develop a high-quality treatment plan with their doctor. This is the first time, Congress has sent legislation to the President’s desk that repeals ObamaCare and defunds Planned Parenthood.

“Additionally, this reconciliation legislation will cut federal spending by over $500 billion and force President Obama to explain and justify his failed policies to the millions of Americans who have seen their health care costs soar, while their choice of healthcare provider has shrunk because of ObamaCare. It is far past time to take power away from bureaucrats and put the focus back on patients.

“Lastly, this bill requires President Obama to publicly acknowledge and explain his support for the incredibly grotesque practices surrounding Planned Parenthood. Instead of providing taxpayer dollars to an organization that puts its financial interests ahead of women and children, this commonsense legislation would strip Planned Parenthood of funding and transfer that money to federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics to ensure women receive high quality medical care while protecting the life of the unborn.”
