Huizenga: Ex-Im Distorts Free Market, Furthers Entitlement Mentality

Today, Monetary Policy & Trade Subcommittee Chairman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting against reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank:

“I am astounded that some of the best and most successful American companies believe they need the Export-Import Bank to remain competitive on the global stage.

“The Ex-Im Bank has been the poster child of both the entitlement mentality and corruption. If Congress is looking for ways to improve the economic climate for American job creators, breathing life into the now defunct Export-Import Bank is not the answer. Instead of growing government and distorting the free market, our focus should be on eliminating the regulatory barriers and complexities in the tax code that are putting U.S. manufacturers of all sizes at a competitive disadvantage.”
