Huizenga Praises Supreme Court Decision To Restore Rule Of Law, Says More Must Be Done
Washington,
June 26, 2014
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement on the Supreme Court's unanimous decision deeming President Obama's use of "recess appointments" illegal:
"The Obama Administration has consistently exceeded its constitutional authority and actively sought ways to circumvent the rule of law. Today's unanimous decision is an important first step toward reining in the power of the executive, regardless of party affiliation, and restoring the proper checks and balances built into our system of government. "While this decision is a clear victory for the legislative branch, the Obama Administration's continued disregard for the constitutional standing of Congress requires further adjudication by the Supreme Court. Whether it is the numerous modifications to ObamaCare, the regulatory monstrosity being created by the EPA, or the release of terrorists from Guantanamo Bay, the President has outstripped his authority. President Obama cannot simply ignore the constitution or congress because he somehow believes it is the right thing to do. We are a nation based on the rule of law and those laws must be followed by everyone in this country, including the President." |
