Huizenga Cheers Senate Passage of Bipartisan Jobs Legislation Impacting Michigan
Washington,
May 22, 2014
Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) conference report 91-7:
"I am glad to see the Senate recognize the importance of this bipartisan jobs legislation and the significant impact it will have on Michigan. The new Great Lakes classification, written by Candice Miller and myself, means harbors here in Michigan and throughout the region will be able to handle more cargo, which will lead to increased economic activity and most importantly, more jobs. I encourage President Obama to sign this vital water infrastructure bill as soon as it reaches his desk." On Tuesday the U.S. House passed the WRRDA Conference report by a vote of 412-4.
