Huizenga Statement On President Obama's Education Speech

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement regarding President Obama's college cost and rating system speech:
"It was great to see President Obama acknowledge the State of Michigan's leadership on higher education reform. As the House of Representatives continues its work to reauthorize the Higher Education Act, federal policies must provide states and institutions the flexibility necessary to innovate. During this district work period, I have been meeting with local college and university officials and the main topic of discussion has been efforts to make college more affordable for students and families in Michigan. Given the recent bipartisan agreement on adopting a market-based approach to student loan rates, I am hopeful for more bipartisan action on education policy reforms." |
