• On How Detroit Came To This Moment: This has been an issue 60 years in the making. This is not something new, and it's time that we deal with it. • This Is An Opportunity For Detroit, This Is A Real Shot At A Fresh Start: I am glad the Governor and the Emergency Manager are moving ahead with this. This can really be viewed as an opportunity. The phoenix can rise here; this offers a fresh start for Detroit. I hope the people of Michigan and Detroit look at it that way as well. • On Fixing Detroit's Fiscal Crisis: It's going to take some tough decisions from the unions, the employees, and the citizens. • On A Potential Detroit Bailout: A direct bailout, which I don't think will be happening, is not something I could go along with. |
