Huizenga Recognized By NAM For His Support Of Workers, Manufacturers

On Monday, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) was awarded the National Association of Manufacturers' (NAM) award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence based on his strong support of West Michigan workers and manufacturers. Huizenga supported 95% of the pro-growth policies identified by NAM as critical to the success of manufacturing and job creation during the 112th Congress.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized by the National Association of Manufacturers. Manufacturing has been a staple of West Michigan's economy since the furniture industry broke ground here so many years ago. West Michigan has built a reputation on not only the quality of the products manufactured here, but the skilled designers and workers that craft them as well. Going forward, manufacturers along the Lakeshore and in the Greater Grand Rapids Area will play a vital role in creating jobs, generating economic growth, and making our communities stronger."

Yesterday's event, held at Amway headquarters in Ada, was attended by both Amway President Doug DeVos and Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel.

“Congressman Huizenga understands the important role manufacturers play in driving economic growth,” said Amway President Doug DeVos. “As a major business with a strong manufacturing presence in West Michigan, we thank Congressman Huizenga for his commitment to businesses and manufacturers.”

“Congressman Huizenga works tirelessly to create an environment that promotes business growth and investment so that we can create more jobs here in Michigan,” said Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel. “We are proud to honor him for his leadership and all that he does for U.S. businesses.”

“Manufacturers today compete in a global marketplace,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “It is critical that Washington creates policies to keep us competitive and maintain our mantle of economic leadership. Congressman Huizenga understands this and has consistently supported the pro-manufacturing agenda through his votes in Congress.”
