Huizenga Challenges President Obama On Jobs: Mr. President, Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Washington,
September 7, 2012
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) issued the following statement on the national jobs report for August:
"While President Obama can give a good speech, his rhetoric on the economy doesn't match his record. For 43 consecutive months, nearly every day President Obama has been in office, unemployment has been above 8% and today over 23 million Americans are either unemployed, underemployed, or have given up looking for work altogether. Making matter worse, today's jobs report showed even more Americans have given up looking for work in the Obama economy with the labor force participation rate dropping to its lowest level in 30 years. The American people have lost faith in President Obama's ability to turn the economy around. "If President Obama is truly interested in helping middle class families in West Michigan and across the nation, he should put an end to his abrasive politics of division, stop threatening to raise taxes on the very job creators we need to hire unemployed Americans and focus on bipartisan pro-growth solutions that would provide small businesses with the certainty necessary to invest, expand, and hire more workers. The Republican-led House has passed over 30 pro-growth jobs bills that are currently sitting in the Senate collecting dust. Mr. President, actions speak louder than words. It's time for you to call Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and Debbie Stabenow and demand a vote on these jobs bills." |
