Huizenga: There's Still Time For Bipartisan Agreement On Jobs
Washington,
July 6, 2012
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) issued the following statement on the national jobs report for June:
"While positive job growth is welcomed, this growth occurred despite President Obama's economic policies, not because of them. Millions of our friends and neighbors have given up looking for work entirely since President Obama took office. 41 consecutive months of unemployment above 8% demonstrates the President's fundamental lack of understanding of what is needed for the private sector to excel and expand at a rate that gets Americans back to work. President Obama's economic agenda consisting of increased regulation, higher taxes, even more reckless spending and ObamaCare has increased uncertainty and severely hampered the ability of our nation's small businesses to do what they do best, create jobs. "With confidence in America's economic future waning and economic growth seemingly at a standstill, there's still time for President Obama, Harry Reid and Debbie Stabenow to become willing partners in the bipartisan effort to create a pro-growth environment that reduces economic uncertainty, removes barriers to growth, and eliminates the threat of tax increases. The House has passed over 30 jobs bills, many of which are bipartisan, that would help lay the foundation for a growth oriented economic environment. Although campaign season is in full swing, there are common-sense steps that both Democrats and Republicans in Washington can take to help get Americans back to work and these jobs bills are a prime example of a place to start." |
