Huizenga: It's Time For Washington To Get Out Of The Way
Washington, D.C.,
June 1, 2012
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) issued the following statement on the national jobs report for May:
"This disappointing jobs report confirms what I have heard from job creators across West Michigan - it's time for Washington to get out of the way. In nearly every conversation I have with small business owners, the discussion comes back to one thing: red tape. Under President Obama, the onslaught of regulations has increased uncertainty and made it more difficult for small businesses in Michigan and around the country to create jobs. House Republicans have actively sought to reduce the burdens facing America's job creators, passing over two dozen bipartisan jobs bills to provide relief, boost growth, and create jobs. "Unfortunately, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin remain unwilling partners in creating an environment for growth and continue to block these House-passed bills. With a recent survey showing 71% of small businesses believe the economy remains in a recession and over 12 million Americans still out of work, it's hard to understand why Senators Reid and Durbin won't focus on bipartisan jobs legislation that will put Americans back to work and has already passed one house of Congress." |
