U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, released the following reaction to the President's $3.8 trillion budget released today. It features record levels of spending and tax increases, is projected to cause the fourth-straight year of $1 trillion deficits, and breaks his promise to confront the nation’s spending-driven debt crisis.
"Every American knows a budget requires looking at what you make and what you spend, and cutbacks to balance it. At $15 trillion in debt, the President keeps calling on Americans to make sacrifices, but I say they've done enough: four years of unemployment above 8 percent, coupled with spending nearly every penny of their hard-earned taxpayer dollars the federal government takes in. And now to pay for his $4 trillion budget. For what? It's time the President starts doing what's right, leading for the whole country, for future generations, not just the next election. It's possible to create jobs for our children without putting them further into debt,” Huizenga said. The President's budget was delivered a week after required by law, another signal he doesn't take the process seriously, Huizenga said For more information, visit the House Budget Committee. ### |
