Huizenga Statement on August Jobs Report

2nd District, MI, September 2, 2011 | Lauren Phillips ((202) 225-4401)
After the August unemployment report showed the U.S. added no jobs last month, the first time since 1945, and unemployment remains above 8 percent for the 31st straight month, U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, released the following statement:

"These numbers reinforce what I've been hearing for the past weeks and months in West Michigan: more government spending and federal ‘stimulus’ has failed job creators and is not the answer. House Republicans have passed multiple bills in the last eight months that would help return certainty to small businesses and allow them to create jobs. Yet President Obama keeps lining up stump speeches to say ‘no’ to our plans, without proposing an alternative of his own. In his next speech, he’ll offer a second stimulus – despite the fact that the first one was an obvious,  resounding failure. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. It’s time we put our country on a sane jobs path, and that’s what House Republicans and I will focus on this September."
