Huizenga Named to House Foreign Affairs Committee

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-04) announced he will be serving for the first time on the House Foreign Affairs Committee during the 118th Congress. The House Foreign Affairs Committee has jurisdiction over issues pertaining to foreign policy, national security, diplomatic security, and a host of international organizations. Huizenga will serve on the Subcommittee on Europe and has been named Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere.

“I am excited to take on this new committee assignment,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “America and our allies face challenges on multiple fronts. I believe we can find common ground to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties with our partners in Europe and across the Western Hemisphere. I look forward to being part of the solution that prioritizes American interests, supports our allies, and counters the expansionist desires of both Russia and China.”

The Subcommittee on Europe has regional jurisdiction over Europe, and includes working on issues related to security, trade, finances, infrastructure, and energy. In addition to its regional jurisdiction, the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere has oversight of: matters relating to economic, investment, and trade policy; commodity agreements; and special oversight of international financial and monetary institutions; the Export-Import Bank, and customs; civilian security, including transnational organized crime and preventing violence by state or non-state actors; and migration and forced displacement.
