Huizenga Statement on President Biden's State of the Union
Washington,
March 2, 2022
Last night, Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-MI) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address. “It was good to see strong support on both sides of the aisle for Ukraine and it’s people this evening. While President Biden made impassioned statements, we must do more to help our Ukrainian Allies. First and foremost, it doesn’t make sense for America to continue to buy Russian oil when it funds Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. America should lead the effort to sanction Russia’s energy sector. At the same time, the Biden Administration must reverse its misguided energy policy here in the United States. We can strengthen our economy, lower prices at the pump, and support our allies by embracing American energy as a force for good.” “Here at home, our nation faces challenges on multiple fronts. Unfortunately, whether it is securing the border, reshoring supply chains, or reducing our nation’s $30 trillion debt, President Biden has failed to deliver tangible solutions. Americans are now facing levels of inflation not seen in 40 years. Soaring costs stemming from Washington’s out of control spending continue to be felt at every kitchen table across Michigan and every time families fill up at the pump or check out at the grocery store.“ “Lastly, we can’t easily undo the damage that the lockdowns from Lansing and the mandates from Washington have done to our children and to our economy. Americans are yearning for a return to normalcy. President Biden should rescind all of his various mandates and focus on policies that empower small business, incentivize workforce participation, and promote lasting and real economic growth.” |
