Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02), Republican Co-Chair of the United States-Canada Inter-Parliamentary Group, released the following statement after the Biden Administration announced changes to land border entry to the United States from Canada and Mexico. “The United States has not had control of its borders for the entire Biden Presidency,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “ For over a year and a half, northern border communities and Canadian-American families have had to live with overly burdensome restrictions that divided them because of the Biden Administration’s inability to stem the tide of people illegally entering the United States along our southern border. While today’s announcement is a step in the right direction, it is not enough and more needs to be done to ease travel. I encourage the Biden Administration to consider proof of negative PCR tests and those with natural immunity to be allowed to enter the United States next month. Both of these commonsense measures would be an improvement over the free-for-all currently happening along our southern border on Joe Biden’s watch.” |
