West Ottawa Student Wins 2021 Congressional Art Competition, Will Have Work Displayed at US Capitol

Today, Congressman Huizenga announced that Kaylynn Barrett, a student a West Ottawa High School is the winner of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. Kaylynn’s piece “Ruby Red Thoughts” will be sent to the U.S. Capitol later this year to be displayed with works of art created by student artists from across the nation. “Congratulations to Kaylynn on creating an expressive piece that highlights not only a unique style, but your artistic skill, talent, and dedication to detail,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “Ruby Red Thoughts will be a standout work of art when it is put on display at the U.S. Capitol for visitors from around the world to see.” Runner Up “State of Mine” by Ava Reynolds Third Place Finish: “Inaccurate Portrayal of a Pencil Witch: Volume Two” by Jody Brown
