Huizenga Commemorates the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy

Yesterday, Congressman Bill Huizenga joined a bipartisan congressional delegation led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy in marking the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France. Rep. Huizenga and his colleagues attended a ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Omaha Beach with D-Day veterans and their families, active duty members of the military, and foreign dignitaries. Below is Congressman Huizenga’s statement commemorating the powerful visit.

“We must never forget the courage and sacrifice displayed on the beaches of Normandy,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “It was incredibly powerful and moving to be at the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and meet with D-Day Veterans as well as the families of the fallen who attended today’s ceremony. So many American heroes gave their lives to protect our freedom and restore democracy for our European Allies. Standing on the hallowed ground of Omaha Beach gave me an entirely new perspective of the bravery our soldiers exhibited to change the course of history.”
