West Ottawa High School Student Wins 2019 Congressional Art Competition

On Saturday, Congressman Bill Huizenga announced Megan Johnson, a junior at West Ottawa High School, as the winner of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for Michigan’s Second Congressional District. Megan’s piece entitled, "The Hand is Home" will now be placed on display in the U.S. Capitol for the next year so thousands of people can view it when they visit the Capitol Building. Megan will also have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. on June 24th to attend the unveiling of her artwork with Congressional Art Competition winners from each congressional district.

“Congratulations Megan on creating this incredibly skilled work of art,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga. “‘The Hand is Home’ not only showcases your talent but highlights the importance of the Great Lakes while serving as a wonderful reminder of home for Michiganders visiting or living in our nation’s capital.”
