Holland Sentinel: GVSU students visit Bill Huizenga

A group of Grand Valley State University students recently met up with U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, in the nation’s capital.

Junior Dorian Thompson said the group anticipated a 15-minute meeting with Huizenga and a quick picture. However, they were pleasantly surprised when their congressman invited them into the House gallery, where they watched a voting process with explanation from Huizenga.

“It was then that he went out of his way to personally take us onto the Speaker’s Balcony for pictures while then offering to give us a tour of the U.S. Capitol,” Thompson said. “Most of the students in our club had never experienced D.C., and the opportunities that Congressman Huizenga provided to us that day were unparalleled to any other. He made our trip one that we will forever cherish, and it meant so much that he took time out of his busy schedule to build a relationship with us.”
