Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga released the following PSA encouraging West Michigan residents to take part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28th from 10 AM – 2 PM at select locations across West Michigan. As West Michigan families, medical professionals, and law enforcement continue to confront the opioid epidemic, Saturday provides another opportunity to have an important conversation and raise awareness surrounding opioid abuse.
Congressman Bill Huizenga:
Here in West Michigan we take pride in our community and work together to make it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. On Saturday, April 28th, we have another opportunity to strengthen our community by participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Across West Michigan, law enforcement and medical professionals are teaming up to provide a safe and responsible way to dispose of excess prescription drugs. Additionally this Drug Enforcement Agency led effort provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of the opioid crisis.
As a community we must continue to work together to educate our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors about the potential of abuse of these medications.
To find a list of participating locations here in West Michigan please go to DEATakeback.com. Together, we can put a stop to the scourge of opioids. Thank you for listening.

More positive news for West Michigan’s economy! It’s wonderful to see innovative manufacturers continue to expand and/or choose West Michigan as the place to invest, grow, and create good-paying jobs!
This afternoon, the House passed bipartisan legislation to improve care for our veterans and strengthen the Great Lakes economy by ensuring that harbors in Grand Haven, Ludington, Holland and other across the Great Lakes are properly dredged. These are among the first set of legislative funding priorities that have passed Congress and are now headed to the President’s Desk to be signed into law. The engine of our economy is powered by small business job creators and thanks to tax and regulatory reform they are feeling more confident than ever before. "As the tax and regulatory landscape changed, so did small business expectations and plans," said NFIB President and CEO Juanita D. Duggan. Capital spending is at it's highest level in a decade and small businesses are reporting record levels of job creation!
