Huizenga: We Need a Balanced Budget Amendment To The Constitution
Washington,
February 9, 2016
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after President Obama submitted his final budget proposal to Congress.
“With our nation over $19 trillion in debt, I was hoping President Obama would take this opportunity to try and bridge the partisan divide he has recently lamented by putting forward a serious proposal that tackles the drivers of our debt. Instead, the President’s final budget doubles down on raising taxes and increasing spending even more than his previous budget, while still never coming into balance. This unserious proposal merely demonstrates why a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution is not only needed but necessary. “In contrast to the President’s liberal grab bag, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House to put forward a conservative budget that reins in spending, reduces federal government overreach, and puts our nation on a path of fiscal sustainability.” |
