Huizenga Votes To Address Southern Border Crisis, Restore Border Integrity
Washington,
August 1, 2014
Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of legislation to address the crisis at the southern border:
"Tonight, the House has provided a viable solution to address the crisis along our nation's southern border. Despite the clear lack of leadership on the part of President Obama and the Democrat-controlled Senate, the House refused to adjourn before a solution to immediately address this crisis was passed. This legislation restores border integrity by: allowing governors greater flexibility to deploy their National Guard along the southern border, authorizing additional temporary judges to help address the increased flow of immigrants while also providing a proper review of 'credible fear' claims of persecution, and including provisions designed to prevent a future crisis." |
