Huizenga Statement In Observance of Memorial Day
Washington,
May 26, 2013
Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement in observance of Memorial Day:
"This Memorial Day, let's honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their life in service to our great nation. Let's also keep in our hearts those who are still missing, those who have been wounded in combat, and those who remain in harm's way. "On Wednesday, I joined the United Service Organizations (USO) to help prepare care packages containing everyday items for our men and women who are currently serving overseas. The countless sacrifices our soldiers and their families make are unparalleled. I want to thank the USO and the many other organizations for their continued support of and commitment to our troops as well as their families." Last week, Congressman Huizenga joined a bipartisan effort to help assemble over 2,000 care packages for our men and women in uniform across the globe. The United Service Organizations lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families millions of times each year at hundreds of places worldwide. The USO provides a touch of home through centers at airports and military bases in the U.S. and abroad, top quality entertainment and innovative programs and services. Additionally, the organization provides critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors and families of the fallen. The USO is a private, non-profit organization, not a government agency. Their programs and services are made possible by the American people, support of corporate partners and the dedication of volunteers and staff. Pictures from the USO event can be found HERE |
