Huizenga Statement On Veterans Day

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) issued the following statement commemorating Veterans Day:

"This Veterans Day, let us honor the brave men and women who have served our great nation and let us also remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty and American values. As the son of a disabled World War II veteran, I understand how important it is for veterans to have access to the quality care they deserve as well as the benefits they have rightfully earned. Making sure veterans in West Michigan and across the nation have the services they require will continue to be among my top priorities.

"Veterans Day also serves as an important reminder to me personally. After listening to my father's stories from WWII, I have come to realize the value and need for ensuring that the experiences of America's veterans are recorded for future generations. This weekend, if you have a family member who has served, I encourage you to look at the Veterans History Project run by the Library of Congress. It is imperative we record these treasured stories and hear America's heroes share their experiences first hand."
