Huizenga Meets With Michigan WWII Veterans In Washington DC

This morning Congressman Huizenga met with Michigan veterans of WWII at the National World War II Memorial in Washington DC.  David Sherpardson reports:

Ford Motor Co. flew 75 World War II veterans from Michigan and Kentucky to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington on Wednesday, the 68th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France. ...

Paul Linder, of Fremont, served more than four years in the U.S. Navy on a PT boat at a motor machinist first class. He spent two years in the Pacific region before getting malaria. After recuperating at home for eight weeks, they sent him to the Atlantic. He was on a PT boat on D-Day, patrolling the English Channel for mines, submarines and other German ships. "It was unbelievable," said Linder.

Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, noted Linder is one of the few vets that served in both theaters.
