Huizenga Applauds Army Corps for Harbor Maintenance Funds in Holland, Manistee

Upon news that Holland Harbor would receive $591,000 and Manistee $500,000 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for harbor maintenance and operations, U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga released the following statement:

"I applaud the Corps' decision to release this money. It is an invaluable step in maintaining and strengthening the flow of commerce into West Michigan harbors and the local economies," Huizenga said.

Huizenga has helped lead the charge on this issue, working with the Army Corps on dredging challenges, hosting local workshops, and is a lead advocate and sponsor of the RAMP Act, which would ensure all funds from the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund are used for harbor maintenance, instead of other government allocations, as is currently common practice.
