This holiday weekend, U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, will present service medals for five 2^nd District veterans and their families, including his father, Gerald Huizenga. The veterans served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. TOMORROW, July 2, at the Howard Miller Library in Zeeland.

 “It is one of my proudest moments in office to be able to present veterans and their families with the medals they earned sacrificing so much to serve their country and protect the freedoms we enjoy today,” Huizenga said. “I am especially honored to be able to see my father receive the full set of medals he earned while serving our nation in Italy during World War II.”

Medals earned by Congressman Huizenga’s father, Gerald Huizenga of Zeeland, a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Force from 1942-1947:

Medals earned by Nicolaas Ellerbroek of Holland, a Private First Class in the Army from 1951-1953:
