Today, after the House Republican Conference met with President Obama and members of the cabinet at the White House for a wide-ranging discussion on job creation and government spending that touched on a number of issues including the debt ceiling, Medicare, and energy, Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, issued the following statement:
“As a small business owner, I know that a key factor in job creation will be restoring certainty to employers. This includes lowering our country’s enormous burden of debt – and creating policies that are going to change the trajectory of the out-of-control spending that got us here in the first place. I’ll be interested to see what the President presents to us in a month or so as a result of the Biden group. Today’s discussion was a good start, especially in finding out where the parties are at and where we agree. As the President suggested, and as I told him one-on-one after the meeting, it’d be nice to have more of these substantive discussions and less rhetoric, so we can hear and respond to various viewpoints.”
