Congressman Huizenga serves on the prestigious House Financial Services Committee. For the 115th Congress, Huizenga will serve on two Financial Services Subcommittees. As Chairman of the Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment Subcommittee, Congressman Huizenga will lead subcommittee efforts regarding all aspects of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) operations, activities, and initiatives to ensure that it fulfills its congressional mandate to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation. As a member of the Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee, Rep. Huizenga will continue his effort to modernize the Federal Reserve. Congressman Huizenga is the author of the FORM Act, the premiere House Republican legislation to reform the Federal Reserve and make it more open and transparent to the American people. Rep. Huizenga has a unique perspective on both finance and public service. Before being elected to office, Congressman Huizenga was a REALTOR and entrepreneur. In 1999, he became co-owner of Huizenga Gravel, Inc., in Jenison, MI. As a small business owner, Congressman Huizenga has a firm understanding of the regulatory, tax, and compliance issues small business face.
During the 114th Congress, Congressman Huizenga chaired the Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee. Previously, Huizenga served on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, International Monetary Policy and Trade, and Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittees.
