Yesterday, I had an insightful conversation with employees at DSA International in Zeeland. I ended up holding an impromptu town hall on issues regularly discussed in the House Committee on Financial Services. The topics of conversation revolved around the dollar remaining the global reserve currency and the likelihood of the Federal Reserve beginning to raise interest rates. It is great to see a growing number of people take note of the importance of monetary policy and discuss how decisions made at the Fed impact outcomes for millions of Americans every day.
Last week, the House passed the #FORMAct, legislation I authored to make the Federal Reserve System more accountable and transparent to the American people. I am glad to have the support of Speaker Paul Ryan and House Committee on Financial Services Chariman Jeb Hensarling on this needed reform legislation! http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/house-approves-gop-led-bill-boost-fed-oversight-35308373
Today I joined a bipartisan majority in the House in support of the American SAFE Act which would strengthen the vetting process for refugees coming from war-torn areas in the Middle East. While we are a nation of compassion and a nation of immigrants, the safety of the American people must be the federal government’s top priority. #SAFEAct
