The Constitution is clear on what authority is granted to Congress and what is granted to the President. I made this point while leading a House Committee on Financial Services hearing on U.S. involvement in multilateral development banks (MDB's) such as the World Bank. Congress and the U.S. Department of the Treasury must hold MDB's accountable to ensure these institutions are efficiently using funding from U.S. taxpayers to advance human rights, improve education initiatives for women, and strengthen economic development.Posted by Rep. Today I spoke on the House floor and discussed how vital access to capital is for small business startups like Boxed Water is Better in Holland and how incubation hubs like Start Garden play a critical role in connecting startups with potential capital. This evening the House passed legislation to improve access to capital, strengthen the economy, and create an environment for even greater private sector job creation.Posted by Rep. Today, the House passed the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act. This initiative not only protects our #GreatLakes, but has also shown real and measurable results by restoring West Michigan waters like White Lake. Our way of life in West Michigan is forever linked to the careful preservation of our treasured natural resources. #PureMichiganPosted by Rep. Bill Huizenga on April 26, 2016
This year's #CongressionalArtCompetition received a spectacular and record-setting 80 entries from across West Michigan. Congratulations to all of the young artists who participated and displayed their incredible talent. Below are the Top 10 finalists for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition to represent the Second Congressional District in the United States Capitol. The winner of the competition will be announced next Monday at 4:30 PM at the Tri-Cities Historical Museum in Grand Haven. I encourage all of the students, parents, instructors, and members of the community to attend! #CAC2016Posted by Rep. Bill Huizenga on April 26, 2016
Lifting the outdated and misguided ban on oil & natural gas exports is already creating jobs and greater economic opportunity for hardworking families across America. This is a prime example of how rules and regulations can have an enormous impact on the economy and even national security!Posted by Rep. Bill Huizenga on April 25, 2016
