Huizenga Statement On Memorial Day
Washington,
May 25, 2012
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day:
"As we gather with our friends and family to celebrate this Memorial Day Weekend, let's remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor the brave men and women in uniform who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Their courage sets the example for the rest of us and reminds us that freedom is never free. Let us also remember those Americans who are still missing, as well as, our wounded servicemen and women returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other conflicts around the globe. "As we pay tribute to our nation's fallen heroes, let's also remember this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Let's not forget about the bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut, the attack on the USS Cole, or the tragic circumstances surrounding the USS Liberty. We must not allow any of our soldiers or their sacrifices to be forgotten." |
