The deadline for students interested in applying for a nomination from U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga to attend one of the U.S. Service Academies – Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine - is Monday, October 31st.

“I admire anyone who answers the call to serve our country. It is a tremendous honor to be able to help any such motivated and brave young men and women from West Michigan in their application to the U.S. Service Academies,” Huizenga said. 

The Academies are open to students who demonstrate high standards in academics, extracurricular activities, and personal conduct. Interviews for applicants will take place December 2nd.

General Application Requirements:

• You must be at least 17 years of age, but not yet 23 years of age as of July 1 of the year you seek admission to an Academy. Note: Merchant Marine Academy maximum age is 25.
• You must be a United States citizen
• You may not be married, pregnant or have a legal obligation to support a child
• All applicants to Huizenga’s office must be from Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District.
