This Tuesday, I had the privilege of meeting Sergeant First Class Leroy Petry, who received the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration in the U.S.
He was awarded for his bravery and valor while on a mission in Afghanistan. You can read more on his story here. After recovering from his injuries, he re-enlisted in the Army and continues to serve his nation.
We discussed his service, his recovery, and our families. I was able to introduce him to other Congressmen as well, so they could hear his story.
It is one of my proudest moments in office to be able to honor and thank our men and women in uniform, our veterans, and their families. Thank you for all that you do to protect the rights and freedoms of this great nation.
