2nd District, MI, June 14, 2011 | Lauren Phillips ((202) 225-4401)
Across the country this week, Americans will fly the stars and stripes proudly in honor of Flag Day. Flag Day was established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson as June 14 of each year, to celebrate and honor this symbol of American tradition and history.

“I’m proud to help honor this iconic symbol of our nation, of the founding principles that make our nation so great: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must remember that we are united as Americans under this flag, and fly it proudly today and always,” U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, MI-02, said in remarks commemorating the occasion.
