President Biden’s failed border policies resulted in more than 11 million illegal immigrants crossing our nation’s borders from the beginning of Fiscal Year 2021 through November 2024, which does not include the more than 2.2 million known gotaways.
Meanwhile, some states allow illegal immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses and in some cases register to vote in local elections! Earlier this year in Michigan, 39 democrats in the State Legislature voted to give illegal immigrants driver's licenses. Fortunately, this legislation failed. I have serious concerns about how these efforts impact not only the integrity of our election system but also the American people’s confidence in the outcome of our elections.
This week, the House will vote on H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require states to verify United States citizenship when an individual registers to vote in federal elections, give states the tools to remove non-citizens from their voter rolls, and penalize officials who knowingly register non-citizens.
It is also important to note that no American citizen will be left unable to register to vote due to a name change. Those who have not updated their documentary proof of citizenship to reflect their new name will be able to use combinations of existing documents to show proof of their name change as well as citizenship.
With this in mind, I want to hear from you.
