U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga invites area veterans of any war, their families, and those who supported war efforts, interested in learning more about how to share their stories through the Veterans History Project at an event this Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Holland Disabled American Veterans Hall #14.
Huizenga will introduce the program and conduct a short example interview with an area veteran. There will be time for questions and a sign-up session after the interview.
Dr. James Smither, Director of the
GVSU Veterans History Project, will introduce the interview process and
be available after the example interview to answer questions about the program.
Veterans will be able to fill out registration forms to share their story for the Veterans History Project, and sign up to schedule their interview after the session.
"It is one of my proudest moments in office to be able to meet, thank, and hear the stories of our brave veterans who sacrificed so much to serve their country, and the Veterans History Project is another way to share these stories," Huizenga said. "As the son of a disabled World War II Veteran, I know how important it is to be able to put their experiences on record for future generations."
