What's Happening In Washington:

Voted to reform entitlement programs, make government more efficient, and responsibly balance the budget in 10 years without raising taxes (H. Con. Res. 25)
Voted against the House Democrat Budget that raised taxes by over $1.2 trillion (Amendment to H. Con. Res. 25)
Voted to eliminate ineffective and streamline duplicative workforce training programs, making a one-stop shop that focuses on training workers not bureaucratic red tape (H.R. 803)
Introduced bipartisan legislation to help low and middle income Americans gain access to credit and qualified mortgages
Introduced legislation to reform Dodd-Frank in order to eliminate an onerous regulatory requirement that has the potential to mislead investors
Joined my Michigan collegues in calling on the Senate to preserve the welfare work requirement
Met with President Obama to discuss potential areas of agreement such as protecting the Great Lakes
Participated in a Financial Services Committee hearing on sustainable housing finance
Met with Michigan FFA President Abby Spickerman
Met with students from Grant High School's Close Up Program to discuss international affairs and the role of the House Financial Services Committee

Presented an update from Washington at the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast
Met with West Michigan REALTORS in Grand Haven to discuss my legislation to help low and middle income borrowers
Addressed the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council in Grand Rapids, where I discussed a variety of topics that would help both Michigan and our country compete globally in the 21st century
Spoke to students at the West Michigan Aviation Academy
Attended the 2013 Governor's Economic Summit in Detroit

On Friday, it was announced the S.S. Badger satisfied the regulatory requirements put forward by the federal government. Here is my statement applauding resolution.
With such a diverse agriculture community throughout the Second District, I was honored to be recognized as a "Friend of Farm Bureau" earlier this month.
Humbled to be named legislator of the year by the Textile Rental Services Association for my efforts to reform Federal Prison Industries/UNICOR
