Huizenga: President Obama Missed An Important Opportunity
Washington,
January 12, 2016
This evening, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s final State of the Union Address:
“Tonight, President Obama had a clear opportunity to lay out a comprehensive plan to restore American leadership across the globe and he chose not to. While President Obama spoke about the potential of America’s future, and our triumphs of the past, notably missing from the President’s address was the reality of the threats we face today. “President Obama has yet to put forward a strategy to defeat ISIS. In regard to Iran, the President seems more interested in rewarding the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism than holding them accountable for violating international law. Nor did the President unveil a unified approach to address North Korea, the only nation in the 21st century to detonate a nuclear weapon. “These clear and present dangers required leadership from the Oval Office. The President should worry less about his legacy and focus on the safety and security of the American people.” |
