Huizenga: The Restoration of White Lake Is Great News For Muskegon County

Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it has officially delisted White Lake from the binational list of toxic hotspots:

"Today is a great day for Muskegon County.  Having White Lake removed as an 'area of concern' is a positive development for the communities surrounding White Lake, throughout Michigan, and across the entire Great Lakes region. White Lake's delisting and recovery is very personal to me. I have been involved in the process both as a staff member of former Congressman Peter Hoekstra as well as an elected official since 1997.

"The White Lake community has worked diligently to restore their lake to its true potential and provided the rest of the Great Lakes region with a clean up approach to emulate.  Restoration of White Lake will enhance recreational activities, expand economic opportunity, and contribute to building a stronger Whitehall, a stronger Montague, and a stronger Muskegon County."
