Huizenga Votes To Stop Massive EPA Power Grab, Defend States Rights

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 5078 the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act:

"For years, the federal government has worked with every state to protect and monitor water quality across the United States. Despite the success of this partnership, the EPA has made it clear it is now more interested in asserting its self-proclaimed authority than implementing the best policies to maintain waters throughout the nation.

“We have seen time and again that the ever-expanding ‘Washington knows best’ approach to regulatory policy has negatively impacted the constitutional balance between state and federal authority. This attempted EPA power grab is no different. H.R. 5078 prevents the EPA from employing yet another job-destroying rule, circumventing congressional authority, and eliminating state oversight of waters exclusively within their borders. Simply put, the EPA has no business attempting to expand federal jurisdiction to man-made ponds and ditches across West Michigan.”
