Huizenga Votes To Reform VA, Expand Private Care Options For Veterans

Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) released the following statement after voting in support of the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 3230, The Veterans Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act of 2014:

"This bipartisan agreement is a positive step in the ongoing effort to ensure our veterans receive the care they deserve. H.R. 3230 provides veterans with the opportunity to seek care from their own doctor at a private hospital or through the VA System. Additionally, this legislation increases accountability at the VA by making it easier to remove incompetent or corrupt bureaucrats who fail to make veteran care their top priority.

"Lastly, the bill modernizes education benefits and opportunities for veterans and their dependents so they can succeed in the future. More work needs to be done to ensure the obligations to our veterans are met, but this is a good start. I hope the Senate will quickly pass this bipartisan measure before leaving and send it to the President's desk for his signature. Our veterans cannot wait."
